Drainage

Attenuation for surface water runoff will be provided within the roads in the form of oversized concrete pipes that will delay discharge to the sewerage system. All other developments in Phase 1 will also be required to attenuate runoff from their plot onto the site. Wessex Water have set guidelines as to the amount of surface water run off that can go in to the storm water sewer in Whitchurch Lane at any one time.

Management of surface water runoff will be self-contained within Phase 1. However when the wider site comes forward this may include a balancing pond, but this is excluded from Phase 1 as it would have required pumping water uphill.

A drainage strategy was submitted with the infrastructure planning application.
