South Bristol Community HospitalThe South Bristol Community Hospital was granted planning consent in March 2008. The construction plans are now being finalised and it is anticipated that building will start by the end of 2009. The full planning application is available to view through the City Council’s Planning website. The application number is 07/05332/F. The South Bristol Community Hospital will make a significant and lasting contribution to improving the health of people in south Bristol and will be a key development in the major Hengrove regeneration scheme. What will the hospital look like?Senior clinicians and managers, local people and professional estates staff have all been involved in helping to draw up the design of the Hospital. The Hospital will be on three floors with a total floor area of around 11,000 sq m. The out-patient services, minor injuries unit and diagnostic services are grouped on the ground floor with the wards, rehabilitation space and day theatres on the floors above. Getting to the hospitalThe hospital is well sited for the local population. Community transport, cycle routes, car parking and existing bus routes will be co-ordinated to provide good access. |
